KurT RATHMANN, CPA
CEO & Founder
Kurt is a born and raised entrepreneur. He brings a diverse background measuring and growing businesses and functions as the Chief Everything Officer. He has a keen focus for growing revenue, refining operations and developing people. He is a news junkie, technological optimist, and has inherited the travel bug with a passion for exploring the world with his awesome wife.
Corey Bach, CPA
Driven by his Midwestern roots and entrepreneurial spirit, Corey brings Public Accounting, Controllership, and CFO experience as a Co-Founder in ScaleFactor. Solving technical complexities and quarterbacking our team of warriors motivates his Rise & Grind. Sports fanatic, family man, and education addict – life outside the office stays a constant adventure.
As the first employee, Derek eats, breathes, and sleeps ScaleFactor. He is the Culture Warrior. He focuses on internal operations including cash flow, culture & HR, and facilities management; he is a true utility player and provides support wherever needed. When not at the office, the rest of Derek’s bandwidth is spent with his family, friends, & two dogs.
Kristen is involved in all aspects of the client's financial operations and focuses on integrating with client day to day operations. When she isn't crushing requests for clients, she spends her time at CrossFit or in the outdoors. Kristen has an affinity for animals, especially cats, and is proudly known for it at ScaleFactor.
ANDREW MILLET, CPA
Director of Services
Andrew leads the ScaleFactor Services team of experts, overseeing all aspects of service delivery and related internal functions. Applying his background in Public Accounting, Andrew develops solutions which balance the unique needs and focused resources of growing businesses to empower their success. When not on the grind, Andrew can be found at one of his favorite music venues, running around Town Lake, or finding the next place to travel.
Zach is responsible for delivering core support and CFO financial analysis. He is involved with taking new clients to a #stateofautomation. When he's not crushing work and cold brew, Zach enjoys cooking and his Texas Longhorns. Zach can also be found spending time with his lovely wife, their infant son, and their "fur baby" German Shepherd.
Customer Success Manager
Adam is utilizing his financial consulting expertise to create a great customer experience from sales to service. He’s passionate about working with ScaleFactor Customers to curate a great experience when you work with ScaleFactor. When he's not focused on ScaleFactor customer's, Adam can be found on the golf course or enjoying Austin's live music scene.
Technical Product Manager
Having spent his early career providing financial planning and analysis to businesses ranging from startup to Fortune 500, Bass is now focused on building tools to deliver automated financial insights with the goal of changing the way businesses make strategic and financial decisions. When he's not nose deep in spreadsheets, Bass can be found exploring his hometown of Austin via foot, bike, bus, and occasionally automobile.
JIGAR PATEL, CPA
Jigar is responsible for delivering core accounting support, financial analysis, and CFO level solutions. He is a resident automation expert focused on the implementation process. When he is not busy coming up with clever hashtags like #stateofautomation, he enjoys watching films & TV shows from his vast media collection and spending quality time with his family and awesome wife.
Mike is responsible for understanding client needs and matching them to the right ScaleFactor resources. When he's not scribing engagement letters or taking credit for the delivery team's work, he enjoys watching re-runs of the 2006 Rose Bowl, smoking competitive BBQ and welcoming the influx of new Austinites to his birthplace.
Taylor is responsible for evaluating the monetary effects of potential business decisions for his clients. He assists businesses in aligning their strategic goals with their financial goals. Outside of the office, Taylor is most likely swimming at Barton Springs or buying unnecessary gear for the next camping trip with his family.
Robert is responsible for delivering core services, financial analysis, and Controller level solutions. He also manages client on-boarding and implementation projects. When he's not in the office performing financial ninja wizardry, Robert can be found on the soccer field, exploring new coffee shops with his beautiful wife, or getting into the mountains to snowboard any chance he gets.
Director of Products
Brian is responsible for building client facing products to present complex data in a simple, intuitive way. He focuses on customer needs working towards scalable, automated solutions that change the way businesses and growth companies make decisions. When he’s not developing FinTech’s next big idea, he enjoys traveling the globe with his wife in a quest to visit 50 different countries.
Nan is responsible for assisting the FP&A team in core client financial reporting and modeling. He also helps manage and refine the ScaleFactor project management platform. Outside of the office, he enjoys playing badminton in order to feel less guilty for eating a lot of Chick-fil-A. When he gets the chance, he enjoys going to the mountains to ski with friends.
SERGIO SALINAS, CPA
Sergio is responsible for filing client tax returns, managing business compliance matters, performing tax research and developing the ScaleFactor tax department. When he's not crunching tax returns, Sergio can be found jogging the trails, going to the lake, floating the river or having drinks with friends. He also loves to travel anytime he gets the chance.
Kate is responsible for delivering core services and financial analysis for all of her clients. She is involved in all areas of the client relationship with ScaleFactor, from on-boarding to managing their books & delivering monthly financial statements. Outside of the daily grind, Kate can be found stalking other people's dogs at Zilker Park, finding new trails to hike or exploring the Austin music scene with her wonderful husband.
Senior Digital Marketing Associate
Amy manages ScaleFactor’s digital presence, from running this website to designing new ads, and everything in between. She's frequently tasked with adjusting the company logo to accent all ScaleFactor gear—hats, shirts, even onesies—just right. If she's not working, she's probably outside, teaching her pup and two cats new tricks, or practicing yoga.
Senior Software Developer
Matthew is responsible for building intuitive software to help power small businesses. When not hacking away at something, he enjoys seeing scary movies with his wife and playing board games.
Will’s responsibilities revolve around providing core services & consulting to clients across industries. He balances managing the daily grind & delivering financial statements with planning team building events that help keep the services side of ScaleFactor operating like a well-oiled machine. Being new to Austin, he loves to explore - you can find him taking advantage of everything the city has to offer, like jogging the Greenbelt, searching for the best taco, or enjoying some live music.
Bob is your go-to guy for all things video. Raised deep in the heart of Texas, Bob has put his film degree to use by screening documentaries at film festivals from Santa Monica to New York City. He loves religious scholarship, Lone Star, and his lovely wife. He also has a really hilarious-looking dog and two cats that like to give each other baths next to you and it's really weird.
Senior Software Developer
Peter spends his time writing code and managing the cloud resources that make up the ScaleFactor platform. When he can drag himself away from his computer screen, you'll find him out hiking with his wife and dogs or over at the pool hall.
Alexandra is responsible for growing the client base within the company. Utilizing her strong interpersonal skills, she identifies prospective clients, gains an understanding of their essential needs, and provides the best solutions ScaleFactor has to offer. Outside of the office Alexandra is an avid traveler, foodie, and bookworm. She also loves sunny walks through Zilker Park with her rescue pup, sipping a good margarita and antique shopping.
Senior Growth Associate
Shayne is responsible for delivering ScaleFactor solutions to the masses. He attributes his success to one of his mantras "Seek first to understand, then to be understood.". When Shayne isn't setting company records or making fun of Mike, he enjoys taking his boat out, skiing in the Rockies, and crossing the next trip off of his bucket list (all with his lovely wife, Megan).
Kelly brings the dev team's code to life by designing all front-end aspects of the ScaleFactor platform. She designs for the user, translating complex financial data into digestible bites of information. Outside of the office, you can find her spending time with friends and enjoying all of the awesome things Austin has to offer. She also has two very adorable cats.
Executive Assistant to the CEO
Morgan is responsible for keeping the ScaleFactor ship afloat and on course for greatness by being Kurt's second brain. She is an Arizona native with a love for sunshine and the outdoors. When she's not busy at ScaleFactor she can be found diving into politics, walking her cat, or drinking craft beer with her boyfriend.
Floyd is the neighbor cat and has no shame calling the team or our office home. He normally is seeking "that" sunny spot or ways to look even more relaxed and carefree. He is an expert at sneaking in or out of the office and goes on long journeys away for weeks at a time. It has been said during these times that he is just looking for better WIFI.
Dan Graham co-founded BuildASign.com in 2005 and oversees the company's growth strategy and plays a key role in its philanthropic efforts and talent acquisition. He also co-founded Notley in 2015 with his wife Lisa. Dan is a recipient of various awards including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2013 Central Texas award, Austin Business Journal's 2012 Best CEO Award, 2012 Austinite of the Year and the Business and Entrepreneurship category winner by Austin Under 40. As a native Austinite, Dan personally gives back to the Austin community through participation on the Board of Directors for numerous philanthropic organizations including Austin Community Foundation, Glasshouse Policy, and Mission Capital among others. He also acts as a mentor to aspiring young entrepreneurs working with Capital Factory and SKU. Dan is a member of esteemed local and national organizations including University of Texas at Austin's College of Natural Sciences Advisory Council, Young President's Organization, Startup Games (Board Member), The Texas Lyceum, Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and the 2016 Class of Henry Crown Fellows and the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute. Dan earned undergraduate degrees in computer science and philosophy from The University of Texas at Austin (2003), and a J.D. from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law (2005). As the father to three incredible daughters, Dan spends his free time with them and his wife, Lisa. Dan is an avid reader and enjoys practicing yoga a few times a week.
Dustin is the Founder and CEO of Headspring, whose company core purpose is to “Deliver Great Software to Transform Organizations”. Headspring has received both national and local recognition most notably being named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas and one of the fastest growing companies in the country on the INC 500.
Dustin has been a resident of Austin for almost 20 years and currently serves as the President of Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) Austin Chapter as well as the President of TeXchange. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, he is an avid Longhorn fan, professional jazz musician, father of 3 wonderful children and husband to his biggest supporter Megan for more than 15 years.
Kit Mellem is CFO at BuildASign.com, an e-commerce custom printing company. Kit joined BuildASign.com in 2009 and oversees the company’s financial and legal operations and helps manage the company’s growth strategy. A four-time Inc. 5000 company, BuildASign.com operates in four countries with over 275 employees and $55 million in revenue. Prior to joining BuildASign.com, Kit was an attorney with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York, where his practice focused on the taxation of corporate transactions. He earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and philosophy from the University of Kansas and a J.D. from Columbia Law School. Kit also serves on the Board of Directors for GENaustin and the Austin Chapter of Financial Executives International
Barbara Daniels has over 20 years of public and private accounting experience. Graduating from California Polytechnic State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Accounting, Barbara began her career in the San Jose, CA office of Ernst & Young where she obtained her Certified Public Accountant and Certified Information Systems Auditor certifications. In San Jose and later the Austin office, she concentrated on public and private companies in the high technology field having worked on numerous IPOs and other M&A work. After leaving Ernst & Young as a Senior Manager, Barbara spent over 10 years consulting, lending her extensive experience to start-ups and non-profit companies across various industries. She joined Buildasign.com as the Controller in 2012 where she leads a team in an extremely fast-paced, dynamic environment. She loves the constant new challenges, but is still able to enjoy her passions of mentoring and teaching.
Barbara is extremely active in her community, continuing to work with non-profits in various board, leadership and mentoring positions. She also loves spending time with her wonderful husband of 20 years and her three outstanding teenagers.
