WHAT IS A 1099?
In simple terms, Form 1099 is used to report payments made by your company to a person who is not an employee or a payment made to an unincorporated business.
WHAT IS A W9?
Form W9 is used by your company to collect information from the person or unincorporated business you wish to pay, before you pay them.
*Please note, if you request a file after 12/15/16, we cannot guarantee that 1099s will be filed by the January 31 deadline.
*Fees include sending 1099’s to the contractor/vendor and electronic filing with the IRS.
Do i have to do this?
Generally speaking, if your company pays a person or unincorporated business over $600 in a calendar year, you must issue a 1099. However, there are exceptions. As always, it's best to consult your ScaleFactor Partner if you are unsure of the requirements.
